Wouldn't you like to use more than words?
The last thing you recall is likely your own death. Whether it was fast or slow, it's over now. And you're... where are you?
One moment, you were among the living. The next - you may be one of the unfortunate ones who actually died. In which case, you've found yourself flowing in the lazy rivers of the river Styx, unfathomably deep underground. Just for a moment, mind you. It's not long before your consciousness is yanked from the waters by some scary monsters, shoved into a healed body, and pushed through a portal.
Or, maybe you were caught red-handed and sentenced to your doom. But, instead of a proper death, you were whisked down into the Veins of Tartarus. And there's really only one place that could lead to... Or is it?
You've been tossed down here by the will of the Titan, but what you find is A helping hand swooping you up - possibly literally, and potentially out of the grasp of the Titan himself.
Not a moment after, you're whisked through another rift, this one a shimmering gold. Into a realm of slightly more stable platforms and a lot more shit to look through. The area is practically littered with the ill-gotten goods of a thieving God (who is happy to note via pop-up illusion that you are touching his stuff). Here, however, you are safe; assured that Typhon cannot find or hurt you here.
For the moment, you can breathe before the next part comes.

S'good to see you too, man.
[ Even though...he would have rather it not be here. ]
no subject
Wait, Aoi-- [he's trying to push to his feet, but his legs won't quite support him, yet, and he wavers, going back down to his haunches]--Where's Aoi?
no subject
[ He can feel the tears welling up. ]
Th-they brought her back, Quark.
no subject
They got her? [he doesn't realize that he's clutching at Alex's arms a little] They got the phone back--and the number?
no subject
They did, C-Cere, she- she got everyone to...to I don't know, use their thoughts and powers to get her back. Aoi- our Aoi.
no subject
She’s back. She made it.
Quark didn’t want to die. He’s not one of those. He’d wanted to live, to stay alive, but once they were in that no-win situation, what were they going to do? It was inevitable. Seymour wasn’t going to be talked out of anything, and Aoi was bleeding out, and there was no way witnesses were going to be allowed.
He’s furious, of course--had been and still is. There had been that little hope that he’d be brought here, with the others, but it had been a slim one. And that number itself had been a last, desperate shot at salvaging something from this.
And it had worked. Seymour’s plan had failed, and Aoi was alive, and it worked.
Quark barks out a laugh, high and sharp and almost giddy, at a rush of spiteful little joy at his last ditch effort working; that he had been right. That, in the only way he could, he had won. He still died, and he’s still angry about that, but this is a triumphant victory fueled by spite, and Quark is going to put all his focus into that, to hold on to it with both hands and wring every little bit of vindictive satisfaction out of it. (And somewhere in that vindictive satisfaction: relief. It worked. It worked and she’s alive again and finally, for once, something worked--)
It pushes that laugh past that first startled sound, as Quark has to lean on Alex a little as he keeps laughing, cackling and borderline mad.]

So this is what it looks like from the outside.
When you realize, when you understand— the world has rules, it has laws, but they can be bent when you see them in the right way. If you see it, if you intervene, you Cheat the design.
"What, are you God now?"
He wasn't, before. And that's not the point, that's still not the point, because it wasn't being a god that lead Quark to give them the tools they needed to save Aoi, it wasn't powers or abilities. It was just what Alex told him, all those weeks ago.
Sometimes, all you need to do is watch and listen, and that's how you learn the ways to turn the world on its head.
Alex keeps his hands on Quark's arms, supporting his weight. It's an overwhelming feeling, when you alter what is set in stone. When you intervene in life and death in such a way. So high off the adrenaline of a victory after so many defeats, Alex almost lost himself, after all.
So. They can stay there for a moment. While it all sets in. ]
They did it. You did it. [ The losses are overwhelming. The trial and error involved in actually accomplishing something like this can break you down.
But that doesn't mean the victories are any less sweet, built from your own blood, sweat, and tears. Quark can go a little mad. It's only natural.
Hissed through his manic gritted grin: ] You fucking did it.
no subject
[Half-wheezed, half-crowed, breaking through the cackling. He grins back at Alex, just as manic, sharp-toothed and giddy.]
I frinxing did it! She's alive! It worked!
[he laughs again, nearly dizzy with it for a moment]
Where's your stupid salvation now, Seymour?
[vindictively victorious, and he's dissolving again into laughter for another moment--before he's wheezing a bit more, trying to catch his breath, releasing one of Alex's arms to scrub at one of his eyes with his palm. That laughter's been reduced to wheezing giggles, but he's still feeling like he's drunk a whole bottle of Slug-o-Cola in one gulp]
no subject
At the same time, in an annoyingly contradiction, his adrenaline seeps out of him like water, and while he does keep a firm hand on Quark's forearm, he does let himself fall back a little, from his haunches to his butt, a self-satisfied sigh mixing in with the huffs. ]
Here. With all the rest of us. They took care 'a that, too.
[ ...Seymour should actually be pretty close by with Zvei, maybe they can overhear... Fuck it, Alex cannot bring himself to care. ]
no subject
Good! Serves 'im right. [he snorts] It better've hurt.
no subject
I'm pretty damn sure it did.
no subject
So, this is where you've all been hanging out?
no subject
Uhh, a-at first— [ Alex also cranes his neck, Fenyx should be around keeping guard, waiting for them to get all this out. ] —but this place- it isn't exactly the safest. Typhon found us here, like- like right after you guys made contact.
no subject
He found you here? [lmao his voice has very suddenly dropped to a hiss]
What happened? Does he know you're here now?
no subject
We were all ampin' up to fight him, before, but she [ GESTURING IN THE DIRECTION OF A SPUNKY REDHEAD who again is presumably keeping an eye out ] showed up and guided us out, kinda.
[ blah blah labyrinth, blah blah dice rolls that were so good they altered the maze, blah blah- ]
Point is, you still show up here. So we came to get you, even if the bastard's all distracted by his interpersonal drama.
no subject
So what you're saying is, the sooner we get out of here, the better. [more questions about All Of That can wait. He would prefer not to be a sitting kud, so to speak.]
no subject
[ Fuckin' fair, Quark. Taking the hint, Alex pushes himself up and then extends a hand to help Quark. ]
no subject
A pleasure to meet you. [She does a little bow.] My name is Fenyx, I was working with Athena on this project.
[She snaps her fingers. Behind her, a shimmering portal forms.]
This will take us to the pocket dimension I've been using to hide everyone from Typhon. It's... also a stash of sorts for the God of Thieves, so try to watch your step.
no subject
You're working with--
[but he cuts himself off; time for that later. Better to get out of here first]
God of Thieves, got it.
no subject
[ Trying his best to not get anxious about the mess of it all, but like, better than Typhon, let's get out of here. ]
